Although we hope to be the heating & air contractor you chose for your home, we know that, as a smart consumer, you want to carefully consider all your options. That's why we've provided this informative section to help you better understand what you should look for in a contractor.

Remember, a heating and air conditioning service contractor is a long-time partner here to provide you with comfort, security, lower power bills, fewer breakdowns and longer equipment life.

1. ALWAYS USE A LICENSED CONTRACTOR. Verify with the city, county or state agency that the company license is in effect.

2. ASK TO SEE A COPY OF THE CONTRACTOR'S LIABILITY INSURANCE AND WORKMAN'S COMP. INSURANCE POLICY. Provide copies with proposals. We invite customers to contact our agents.

3. ALWAYS ASK FOR AND CHECK REFERENCES. ASK ABOUT AWARDS OR COMMENDATIONS. If someone's happy with the work or service they received, then it's likely you will be, too. At Service Incorporated Heating & Air Conditioning we are a Trane Comfort Specialist, a dealer in the top 10% of highest standing, as well, achieving the Comfort Specialist Top Performer Award for customer satisfaction.

4. LOOK FOR A MEMBER OF A CONTRACTOR'S ASSOCIATION, like Air Conditioning Contractors of America. They provide the latest technical information and training.

5. ALL EMPLOYEES SHOULD HAVE UNDERGONE CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS, DRUG SCREENING, AND DISPLAY I.D. BADGES.

6. GOOD CONTRACTORS USE REFRIGERANT RECOVERY EQUIPMENT AND ARE CERTIFIED TO HANDLE THE REFRIGERANT, AS WELL AS DISPOSE OF IT. They also use weight scale measuring devices to properly calculate the amount of freon used.

7. WHEN CHOOSING A REPLACEMENT SYSTEM, NOTE THAT PROPER SIZING OF YOUR INDOOR AND OUTDOOR EQUIPMENT AND EXISTING DUCTWORK IS ESSENTIAL. This requires room by room load calculations performed in detail using a industry accepted 'manual J format'.

8. HAVE THE SALESPERSON EXPLAIN SEASONAL ENERGY EFFICIENCY RATINGS AND ANNUAL FUEL UTILIZATION. Make sure the salesperson listens to your concerns and needs to ensure a tailored comfort system that's right for you and your family.

9. ASK FOR INSTANT FINANCING PACKAGES. Please recognize that if your system is 10 years old, you could also save 50% on your utility prices, and with that kind of savings, you could have a new comfort system that is essentially paid for by the utility company!

10.ALWAYS GET A WRITTEN CONTRACT BEFORE ALLOWING THE SERVICE CONTRACTOR TO INSTALL YOUR NEW SYSTEM. Upon completion request a 33 point Quality Control Audit Report.

11. ASK FOR CONTRACTOR AND MANUFACTURER WARRANTIES.
